About Me...
Let's start this story on my 20th birthday. As my parent's only child, they made the effort to come out to Greece to see me. I had no plan to return, just to travel around the world for as long as I could. So it was there on the lovely island of Paros, that I became the lucky recipient of a decent camera, and this changed my world...
I was to travel extensively for the next 13 years, so photography became the perfect way to communicate with my family. Whilst on one of my many working visits to Tokyo, I bought an old Nikon FM2. With this fully manual camera, I really started to teach myself photography.
My camera was stolen in Malawi, so I took on a 2 year lease on a Backpackers Lodge. With the help of a borrowed camera, here are a few of the animals I had whilst running the place...
When I found myself back in England, I had been away for over 11 years, and apart from my parents, I felt I had nothing to come back to. I wasn't ready to stop travelling, I still didn't even have a camera, so I took the incredible opportunity to work with a team of ship's photographers, on the P&O flagship, The Oriana. Although it was gruelling at times, (and there was no place to hide!), the 18 months on board took me around the world, revisting many people & places that I loved. It also taught me an invaluable lesson in how to deal with the unpredictable general public. On board I was also to meet a very successful wedding photographer, Clive Thackwell.
Wedding photography eh? Something had clicked, (excuse the pun!). I love a good wedding, who doesn't? Everyone is looking their best and nobody really minds being photographed. Clive took me under his wing and although the money was dreadful, (sorry Clive, but it was!), I worked as his assistant for many weekends during the next year until I had my shotlist.
I settled in London and started to photograph weddings, family portraits, pregnancy and head shots. I had three wonderful children, but had outgrown once large flat.. On the day that the little one started to crawl, we made our escape! We rented out the flat and moved into a quiet Cul-de-sac in North Dorset.
That was over five years ago, we now own that damp rental property, the children are settled and the youngest is at school.
I'm now an apprentice falconer! I NEVER SAW THAT COMING! I absolutely love my job! Pitcombe Rock Falconry is where I go to relax. I have now properly moved to the country and work outside in the most beautiful countryside. I combine the photography I love, the social media that I'm all over(!) and work with animals and children!
If you like my work, let's talk.
